The Crystal Caves are one of Cayman’s natural tourist  attractions located in a lush tropical forest. Amongst the forest and caves are captivating tropical plant and animal life. Millions of years ago, the caves were all underwater. As time passed, sea levels began to lower and land became visible. The caves were formed due to water erosion. These were used as hideouts or hurricane shelters by the pirates hundreds of years ago (yes, pirates of the Caribbean were actually a real thing!), and according to legends some of their treasures were hidden here! Hey guys! How have you been? It’s been a while! *blows dust off this blog* I have been surprisingly busy the past few days especially with work. The economy is slowly getting back on its feet in this side of the world. In response to COVID-19 crisis, the Cayman Islands government has allowed residents, regardless of age, to withdraw at least 25% of their pensions. Guess what happened? Locals are shopping now more than ever and spending tons of their money on new stuff such as home renovations, appliances, air conditioning, and what not. Lately, I’ve been watching Natalia Osipova’s performance of Giselle, and… wow. I didn’t expect to feel so much watching it, but I did. I still do. It wasn’t just the dancing (though yes, she moves like she’s made of moonlight and memory). It was everything — the music, the stillness, the way love and heartbreak and grace can live in one story, one body, one breath. Checking in today. This blog always lingers in the back of my mind, and even though I keep telling myself I’ll write something, I often don’t. Is it that I’m getting older, or is it just that my energy drains faster these days? I promised I’d keep this space alive so I can one day look back and see how life was—even if it’s the little things. I’ve said it before, but it still feels true: so much has been changing around me.
