We got married!

I can’t believe it! I am now officially part of the married women club! Nothing much has changed, to be honest, given that my husband and I have been living like a married couple for a while now. But still, it’s nice to know that we’re now officially bound together for life.

We decided to get married in the Cayman Islands to avoid the tedious process of applying for a marriage license in the Philippines. We’ve been trying to sort out all the paperwork since January this year, but the back and forth of legal requirements took a lot of effort, time, and money. So, we decided to bypass all the red tape, get married locally, and do a destination wedding ceremony in the Philippines instead.

It was a last-minute decision, but it was worth it. We scheduled an appointment with Cayman Island’s most popular wedding officers, Simply Weddings, and married at their office on April 24, 2024. I specifically chose this date because of the lucky numbers 2 and 4.

My close friends Beatriz, Tammy, Lainey, and Alex attended the wedding. It was short but sweet! A few days after the wedding, my work colleagues hosted a surprise bridal shower for me at Popojebs restaurant. It was so much fun, and I didn’t expect such a good turnout! Almost all the ladies in my department attended, and we had a good karaoke night over Filipino foods.

My bestie Beatriz and I stayed a little longer and sang our hearts out until the night! I am so glad I have amazing friends to celebrate with ๐Ÿ’— Looking forward to our trip to the homeland next week!

Are we in the age of scarcity?

Few weeks ago Iโ€™ve read this article called โ€œBetting on the Planetโ€. Itโ€™s a very interesting debate between an ecologist, Paul Ehrlich, and an economist, Julian Simon, regarding environmental issues. You may access the file here. My thoughts were divided after reading the article. On one side, I am in favor of what Paul Ehrlich has to say. However, most of what I had in mind agrees with Julian Simon. Growing up, I was exposed to a lot of environmental issues. Almost all activities we had in high school concerned the preservation of the planet. We were trained to reuse, reduce and recycle. We were shown educational videos about how we, human beings, are slowly ruining our own home. Global warming was a hot topic, and almost…

    Halloween 2022

Hi friends! This is me trying to update my dusty old blog lol. As you all know, halloween is one of my favourite events in the year mainly because I love seeing people dressed up not just in spooky costumes but creative and cute ones as well! And since I’m a fan of Brooklyn Nine Nine’s halloween specials, I incorporated the same idea in my workplace. I recently joined the social committee and immediately took dibs of organising halloween this year. Last year, we had a spontaneous party and awards for best costume and best decor. So I thought of doing the same, but with one more additional competition: Amazing Race – Halloween Edition! I was not given any budget for this social so I…

    It’s Halloween again!

It’s currently 9:39 PM. I’m alone in my apartment, enjoying a cup of coffee. It’s nice to relax and have some me-time after a busy month. I recently read our company policy and learned that we should be careful about putting our names out on the internet and avoid associating the company’s name with personal matters. However, since I plan to write about my daily life, and since most of my day is spent at work, it’s difficult to avoid mentioning the company. Therefore, I’ll use a pseudonym in this blog. It is a great relief to finally finish the two exams that I have been dreading for the past six months. I have come to realize that I am not as efficient in studying…

    7 things I learned at 26

I am now officially 26 years old. Yesterday was my birthday. But what does that even mean? The earth revolved around the sun 26 times since I was born? I guess as I grow older every year I also get less sentimental and more realistic. This year, celebrations don’t really matter much. I prefer spending the day in peace rather than in big crowd of people with a lot of small talks. I am bad at small talks. I am awkward and timid and don’t know what to say. This year and last year has been the most challenging and fruitful at the same time for me. I embarked on a new journey, alone, tried to do things out of my comfort zone even though…

Five things you probably didn’t know about me

Happy Sunday everyone! Today I want you to get to know me a little bit better. I can be quite private in a way that I don’t really like putting myself out there, but this time I’m going out of my shell for a bit and share some of myself. This is part of my Coffee & Connect series where I talk about personal stuff, so you can check out the other posts if you are curious. โ˜บ Let’s begin! #1. When asked, I always introduce myself as full Filipino  I was born and raised in the Philippines by my Filipino mom. Technically I am only 50%, but the way I think, speak, and act are all 100% Filipino. Even my accent would give me away. Nothing…

Toronto Day 4: Winter Village at the Distillery District and St. Lawrence Market

I thought I was completely prepared for my trip. It was only on the third day that I realized I badly needed a moisturizer. I had no idea that the cold weather could dry my skin so badly! I noticed bumps on my skin and my lips began to crack. I quickly realized that it was because of the chilly, dry breeze. As someone who has never lived in a winter climate, I didn’t know this could happen. Fortunately, I was able to purchase Mugwort Essence and Cream from the brand “I’m From” at Sukoshi Mart in Eaton Centre. After using it for just one night, my skin felt hydrated and refreshed. I appreciated that it didn’t leave a sticky feeling like some other moisturizers…
