Motherโ€™s Day and Birthday Celebrations

On May 10, my family celebrated both Motherโ€™s Day and my momโ€™s birthday at the Lobster Pot in George Town. Ever since my mom arrived on the island, she had been talking about wanting to eat lobster, so we figured there was no better place to take her than Lobster Pot.

We had originally requested an outdoor table when making our reservation because we thought it would be nice to enjoy the waterfront views. Little did we know it was going to be scorching hot that day! On top of that, the restaurant was packed with families celebrating Motherโ€™s Day. We ended up waiting a while before we could finally be accommodated inside.

For those who havenโ€™t been, Lobster Pot is one of Caymanโ€™s long-standing waterfront restaurants, known for its fresh seafood and beautiful harbour views. It has been around for decades and is a popular choice for both locals and visitors looking for classic seafood dishes in a relaxed setting.

We decided to order ร  la carte instead of going for the all-you-can-eat option. While the buffet looked tempting, it was a bit pricey and honestly, we were mainly there for the lobster. None of us are big drinkers either, so we didnโ€™t feel the need to get our moneyโ€™s worth from the unlimited drinks.

Two weeks later, it was my turn to celebrate my birthday. This time, we went for a Sunday brunch buffet at SeaRock in George Town. SeaRock offers a more modern dining experience and is known for its waterfront location, fresh seafood selection, and extensive brunch buffet. The atmosphere felt relaxed and family-friendly, making it a great spot for a weekend celebration.

My mom was still in a seafood mood, so that naturally influenced our choice once again. As usual, it was the five of us together. My husband, my step-daughter, my mom, my baby, and me.

The buffet was great, and we had a really nice view while enjoying brunch. My mom and stepdaughter probably enjoyed it the most since they both love buffets and were excited to try a little bit of everything.

As it got closer to 3 PM, the music became more upbeat, and my husband jokingly said it felt like we were at a club. Of course, we took advantage of the moment and did a little photoshoot around the area because everything looked so aesthetic. It was one of those fun, spontaneous moments that made the day even more memorable and gave us plenty of photos to look back on.

Lately, Iโ€™ve been realizing how much I value these simple family moments. Good food, shared conversations, and celebrating milestones. None of it is particularly grand, but somehow those are the moments that stay with me the longest.

This year has been full of changes, challenges, and new beginnings. Being able to spend time with the people I love most reminds me that at the end of the day, thatโ€™s what matters. The meals eventually end, birthdays come and go, but the memories we create together are the things we carry with us long after.

Happy new year everybody! This is my first post of 2022! How exciting is that? Did you know that I was in the blogosphere since I was in high school… like around 2006ish… 15 years ago! Although ofcourse I kept changing my handle and kept evolving in content that’s why I’m always like a ๋ˆ„๊ตฌ to this world lol. A lot of the lifestyle bloggers I knew back then has stopped writing… and moved on with their lives. I wish I could still stay in that era that inspired me a lot to write. Quite frankly majority of the blogs I come across these days are all for making $$$ off content, building a brand, improving SEO and all that jazz. I genuinely hope I come…

Metro Manila Pride March and Festival

Hey everyone, how are you? Today, I’m going to take you to a trip down memory lane when I was still in Manila celebrating the 2017 Pride Parade. This was my first time attending such event and I must say I had so much fun. Iโ€™ve never been to a parade this colorful and diverse. There were fun games, merch booths, food stalls, and live performances from well-known personalities. Not to mention the music was booming for 12 hours straight, so there were no dull moments. For those who are not familiar with the Pride Parade, it is a celebration of diversity, inclusion, social and self acceptance, legal rights, and pride for our LGBTQ community. The venue was in front of Marikina city hall so security…

Toronto Day 6: Niagara Falls and Nathan Phillips Square

Save the best for the last! This day is my fiancรฉ’s 40th birthday. I decided to get a private tour of Niagra Falls instead of DIY-ing it myself. Niagara Falls is about 2 hours away from Toronto, and with this weather, it would have been a painful experience for us to do all the commute and transfers just to see the falls. I figured it was more convenient to just pay a little bit more for a private tour where all we have to do is relax while we are being driven around the area, and most importantly, we are being guided through the history of the place. Our first stop is Niagara On The Lake. It is often called “The Prettiest Town in Canada”…

Toronto Day 3: Casa Loma and The Cameron House

Today we are scheduled to visit Casa Loma, a historic castle known for its stunning architecture and beautiful gardens. It is located in Austin Terrace, and the closest subway station is Dupont on the University Line. As usual, from our Vrbo, we took a street car from King St to King Station. It takes about 5-10 minutes to walk from Dupont to Casa Loma. You won’t get lost as the castle’s towers are visible from afar. Casa Loma is included in the CityPass, so we didn’t have to queue when we arrived. Casa Loma was built by Sir Henry Pellatt in the early 1900s. This historic castle is known for its unique Gothic Revival architecture and well-preserved interiors, providing a glimpse into the past. Inside,…

What happened in Miami last year?

It’s that time of the month again, Halloween! This day last year I was on an adventure in Miami by myself. I was feeling nostalgic so I rummaged through my old blog and found this post about my trip. Definitely enjoyed my solitude in this one. This has been a long overdue post but Iโ€™d like to share with you some snippets of my short but sweet trip to Miami! I went there alone last Halloween, and stayed mostly in South Beach, at Freehand Miami Hotel. The beach was good but since I dunno how to swim, I wasnโ€™t able to dip in for a long time. Instead, I enjoyed the hotel amenities (it was hippy by the way and very millienial!) and ofcourse did…

  • One Cayman Carnival

    One Cayman Carnival

Today went to the annual adult street parade for Batabano / CayMAS in George Town. There were loud music, colorful costumes, people dancing in the streets, random strangers hyping each other up, drinks flowing everywhere! It was one of those events where you can just feel everyone letting loose and enjoying life for a day. If youโ€™ve never experienced Caribbean carnival before, itโ€™s basically a huge cultural celebration rooted in music, freedom, history, and self-expression. Different islands celebrate it differently, but the common themes are soca music, elaborate costumes, dancing, and community. Carnival in the Caribbean has deep historical roots tied to emancipation and cultural identity, evolving over generations into the massive celebrations we see today. What made this year interesting is that Caymanโ€™s two…
