I’m 30, and married!

I recently went on a four-week trip to the Philippines, with an exciting three-day stopover in Los Angeles. During this trip, I celebrated my 30th birthday, got married, bought my mom her dream car, and explored a new city. It was a whirlwind of joy and unforgettable experiences.

My wedding planning started last May after I got engaged. We needed a year to save money, plan the theme, and organize everything to ensure our loved ones could come. It was a big task that took up a lot of my time, but I loved every moment of it.

Planning a wedding in another country had its challenges. The time difference made it hard to communicate with vendors, and the cultural differences in wedding traditions were a learning experience. I made a 29-page PowerPoint to show my vision and shared it with my wedding organizers. Some things went as planned, while others needed adjustments.

We had to make several compromises. We changed the color palette to match the available decorations, picked a different location due to unforeseen issues, and altered the bridal gown because, for the most part, it couldn’t fit me! There were tough moments, like when our initial venue fell through, I couldn’t help but cry. But in the end, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the new venue was logistically even better!

Planning a dream wedding is hard but worth it! Having the support of family and friends made all the difference.

    Life update (finally!)

Hi friends! It’s been a while. So many things has happened since I last checked in. First and foremost, congratulations to me – I passed CSC Vol. 1 Exam! I started studying for Vol. 2 immediately after though. I know, boo! It feels like its never going to end bubu!! but I’m giving myself until next year before my wedding to complete my certifications. To be quite honest,  there has been a lot of instances where I question myself…is this really the career I want? It is too late to switch? Don’t get me wrong, the moolah is good…  but it is very exhausting. Sometimes I straight up feel like I’m wasting my life with this. I don’t feel any sense of fulfilment. It’s not…

    Saturday nights at Cotton Club

“Is there anything else you do on Saturdays aside from clubbing?” Short answer is, no! In this small island there is not much of a variety of fun activities to do on weekends apart from beaching so yeah. This is what “Caymanian kids nowadays” do most of the time. What I like about the night life here is that girls wear literally whatever they want without being judged or bodyshamed. As a woman that is one of the most liberating feelings you could possbily feel. It also keeps my creative juices flowing esp on outfit ideas and accessorizing. In the photo above I was only wearing a gray sports bra and an office skirt – but it turned out not so bad! ___ Anywhere with…

  • A look back

Have you ever had one of those moments where you would just suddenly stare in to space and all those past memories starts flashing back? Well I’ve had many of those moments the past few days, all triggered by simply glancing into my old canon camera, pill case by the night stand, dusty books, and many more. I know I had to go through so much to get where I am now, but really and truly, what matters the most is my personal growth for the past year. My mental health. I have been on SSRIs for about 8 months and I am happy to say that I’m now down to my last week! You have no idea how relieving it is to finally be…

Hurricane Season in Cayman: Staying Safe and Finding Solace in K-Dramas

The hurricane season has started. Last week, we received a national advisory that a category four hurricane named Beryl was headed our way. This caused a lot of anxiety on the island, with everyone rushing to stock up on groceries and board their windows with plywood. Some might say we were overreacting, but those people probably hadn’t experienced the devastation of Hurricane Ivan. Although I wasn’t there, I’ve heard stories from friends and even my husband, who experienced it firsthand. Since then, the locals have been more alert and take extra precautions during hurricane season. It’s always better to be prepared and have nothing happen than vice versa. The government now requires new houses to be built according to specific guidelines to ensure they can…

    Halloween 2022

Hi friends! This is me trying to update my dusty old blog lol. As you all know, halloween is one of my favourite events in the year mainly because I love seeing people dressed up not just in spooky costumes but creative and cute ones as well! And since I’m a fan of Brooklyn Nine Nine’s halloween specials, I incorporated the same idea in my workplace. I recently joined the social committee and immediately took dibs of organising halloween this year. Last year, we had a spontaneous party and awards for best costume and best decor. So I thought of doing the same, but with one more additional competition: Amazing Race – Halloween Edition! I was not given any budget for this social so I…

Planning a Wedding: My Journey and Tips for Future Brides

As I’ve mentioned in my previous posts, I recently got married. The journey to make the event happen took a year of planning, with many adjustments along the way. Today, I want to share my experience with you, hoping it will help if you are a future bride. Every couple’s situation is unique. In my case, I did all the planning from the Cayman Islands while the wedding took place in the Philippines. Fortunately, I have a supportive mother who handled the groundwork and a fantastic wedding planner with all the right contacts. It was a team effort that made everything possible. Before diving into the details, it’s important to note that having a supportive family and a reliable wedding planner plays a crucial role…
