I’m 30, and married!

I recently went on a four-week trip to the Philippines, with an exciting three-day stopover in Los Angeles. During this trip, I celebrated my 30th birthday, got married, bought my mom her dream car, and explored a new city. It was a whirlwind of joy and unforgettable experiences.

My wedding planning started last May after I got engaged. We needed a year to save money, plan the theme, and organize everything to ensure our loved ones could come. It was a big task that took up a lot of my time, but I loved every moment of it.

Planning a wedding in another country had its challenges. The time difference made it hard to communicate with vendors, and the cultural differences in wedding traditions were a learning experience. I made a 29-page PowerPoint to show my vision and shared it with my wedding organizers. Some things went as planned, while others needed adjustments.

We had to make several compromises. We changed the color palette to match the available decorations, picked a different location due to unforeseen issues, and altered the bridal gown because, for the most part, it couldn’t fit me! There were tough moments, like when our initial venue fell through, I couldn’t help but cry. But in the end, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the new venue was logistically even better!

Planning a dream wedding is hard but worth it! Having the support of family and friends made all the difference.

How to ace your Cayman Islands driver’s theory test

Hey you all! I’ve recently passed my Cayman Island’s written driver’s exam. I wasn’t a driver before I came here so I have no prior knowledge of road rules. It only took me 15 minutes to finish the test on my first try! Most people I know have been warning me on how difficult the exam is and that they had to retake it atleast 3 to 4 times. To be honest it wasn’t hard at all, and your odds of passing just depends on how prepared you are before the exam. For those who are planning to take it, today is your lucky day! I’m going to share with you some tips on how you can not only pass, but actually nail it on…

    Batabano Carnival 2023

Yesterday my boyfriend and I decided to watch this year’s Batabano parade. It was actually a spur of the moment decision. Since we have gotten much older, we don’t really enjoy being out in the sun while walking and dancing anymore. I would say, the first time I watched Batabano, I was so mesmerised by the vibrant costumes and the overall representation of the Caribbean culture. However, like most things, my ‘utility’ with island-wide events have been ‘marginally diminishing’ quite quickly than I expected. In my opinion, Batabano Carnival has lost its spark post-pandemic. It’s either the pandemic took a toll on people, or CayMas (a privately organised carnival) has become more popular and overshadowed Batabano. As you might notice from my previous posts, I’ve…

    Life Update: Week 2

Hey everyone, how have you been? To be honest, my week was somehow mediocre. It is not necessarily unproductive, but it isn’t as productive as I would like it to be as well. Unlike most people, I physically go to work every other day, and when I’m not, I’m either doing house chores, groceries, or bank runs. I thought everything was okay, until yesterday. To my surprise, I had a really bad panic attack. I thought I stopped having those a long time ago? It has gotten worse from how it used to be before. I was just having my dinner, and the next thing I know I was crying over my food, catching my breath; my hands numb and shaking. I had no idea…

    Life lately

I have been back and forth to the hospital the past few days and I haven’t been feeling my best self lately. I’ve been to the emergency room twice and boy I tell you, how lonely it is to be in a hospital bed alone with all those beeping machines and people in pain all over the place. I even witnessed an ambulance coming in with person who just drowned and soaking wet. Anyway, I’m not sure if my condition is due to stress, home-sickness, or change in weather and fatty foods whatever – but don’t worry I am recovering. One thing I know for sure — medical bills are not a joke so everyone please don’t take your health for granted! and when I…

Why do I feel like I’ve already lived through my 30s?

Sometimes it surprises me how I’m still in my twenties when I feel like I’ve already aged by so much the past few years. I don’t know if it is the hectic work/study schedule, or the sudden lifestyle change from buy whatever you want to responsibilities before happiness. I’ve never felt so adult (and so exhausted!) in my life. You probably hear me complain about this all the time lol.    My birthday is coming up and I don’t even have plans or anything. I originally wanted to go shop my heart out for cosmetics and skincare, but then again I still have a handful of unopened products I hoarded when I went to the Philippines last year. Even though I already have everything I ever asked…

    Cayman Turtle Centre

Did you know that turtle meat is one of the national delicacies in Cayman? Where I’m from that would be bizarre to hear but interestingly enough it is not in this side of the world. The Cayman Turtle Centre is a conservation facility for turtles and also tourist spot here in West Bay. I’ve only been there once when I was 13 and never dared to go back until a couple of days ago. I got the urge to go visit due to a number of calls I receive from their Aviary department regarding problems with refrigeration. If you didn’t know yet, I work under a contractor for refrigeration so everytime the farm has some problems with their coolers, ACs, or fridge, I arrange for…
