Cayman Turtle Centre

Did you know that turtle meat is one of the national delicacies in Cayman? Where I’m from that would be bizarre to hear but interestingly enough it is not in this side of the world. The Cayman Turtle Centre is a conservation facility for turtles and also tourist spot here in West Bay. I’ve only been there once when I was 13 and never dared to go back until a couple of days ago. I got the urge to go visit due to a number of calls I receive from their Aviary department regarding problems with refrigeration. If you didn’t know yet, I work under a contractor for refrigeration so everytime the farm has some problems with their coolers, ACs, or fridge, I arrange for someone to go and fix it for them. Last Sunday was THE perfect day to go visit because the weather was so cooperative; cloudy and wasn’t hot at all.

Sorry to say this but the hatchery looks like a scene from a zombie horror film lmao

Cute baby turtles and actual shells from big turtle

And my favorite place in the farm: THE AVIARY. My paradise โค Flamigos and scarlets are the most beautiful birds imho

I didn’t have that much photos to share because I was too caught up in the moment especially in the pool but hope you enjoyed the little snippets I shared. Til next time ^^

Toronto Day 1: Arrival, Jollibee, Kimโ€™s Convenience, and CN Tower

Please read until the end, as I will summarize all the tips I have for you if you plan to travel to Toronto for the first time! We arrived in Toronto at midnight, and it was freezing even though it wasn’t winter yet. We flew with United Airlines, and the flight was good. I was surprised that the airport was more relaxed at that hour. I expected shops to be open and people coming and going, but it had some downtime. Because of the time of year, it was less busy than other airports I’ve been to in the past couple of years. If you’re a first-time visitor to Toronto, choose a hotel downtown like we did. Similar to most big cities, everything is accessible…

Right where I once dreamed to be

Lately, Iโ€™ve been so caught up with work and this whole transition that my days feel like one long checklist. Head down, moving from one thing to the next, barely pausing to breathe. But today, something different happened. I stepped outside, took a moment, and for once actually looked up. And right there, under the same sky Iโ€™ve walked under for years, it hit me: Iโ€™m standing in the exact place I used to dream about. A few years ago, I remember passing by this building and quietly telling myself, โ€œOne day, I want to work there.โ€ Back then, it felt soโ€ฆ far away. Fast forward to now, here I am. In the middle of the grind, yes. Tired most days, definitely. But alsoโ€ฆ exactly…

  • Are we in the age of scarcity?

Are we in the age of scarcity?

Few weeks ago Iโ€™ve read this article called โ€œBetting on the Planetโ€. Itโ€™s a very interesting debate between an ecologist, Paul Ehrlich, and an economist, Julian Simon, regarding environmental issues. You may access the file here. My thoughts were divided after reading the article. On one side, I am in favor of what Paul Ehrlich has to say. However, most of what I had in mind agrees with Julian Simon. Growing up, I was exposed to a lot of environmental issues. Almost all activities we had in high school concerned the preservation of the planet. We were trained to reuse, reduce and recycle. We were shown educational videos about how we, human beings, are slowly ruining our own home. Global warming was a hot topic, and almost…

    Life Update: Week 4

Hey, how are you? Life update: I finally got to drive my car on the main road for the very first time yesterday. As I mentioned in my previous post, I recently got my driver’s license. It was nerve wracking but such a learning experience. The tip professionals would always tell me, assume that everybody else on the road doesn’t know what they’re doing. That way you’ll be more alert and cautious. Kind of helpful thinking that I am the smartest driver on the road lol. Weekends are always chill and slow for me nowadays, thankfully, unlike before where I work on Saturdays and  then do all my chores on Sundays. Can you believe? no more rest day left for me. For two years I…

  • Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park

    Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park

I’ve always wanted to visit this tourist attraction ever since I came to the island but never really got the chance to do so because I live on the other side. I’m not a green thumb or a plant/flower enthusiast but I love going to botanic parks because of a lot of prospective subject to practice my macro photography. It is also a nice place to unwind, have a quick stroll, and appreciate nature in its most natural form. Last week, after so many self persuasions I finally decided to get up and get ready on a Saturday morning to go to North Side and enjoy Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park. It was very humid unfortunately so I ended up sweating all over throughout the…

Passing my exams and trip to Toronto

I am thrilled to announce that I have successfully completed my Canadian Securities Course and Conduct and Practices Handbook! It was an incredible journey. As part of my job, I have to process trades, so taking these courses was mandatory. It is a major milestone for my career, and I have gained so much knowledge. I am grateful for the support from my workplace in pursuing further education. It took me a total of six months to finish both courses. Although some people manage to complete everything in less time, I wanted to ensure I truly understood the concepts instead of just memorizing for the exams. And let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it! If you are planning to take the exams, here…
