A look back

Have you ever had one of those moments where you would just suddenly stare in to space and all those past memories starts flashing back? Well I’ve had many of those moments the past few days, all triggered by simply glancing into my old canon camera, pill case by the night stand, dusty books, and many more.

I know I had to go through so much to get where I am now, but really and truly, what matters the most is my personal growth for the past year.

My mental health. I have been on SSRIs for about 8 months and I am happy to say that I’m now down to my last week! You have no idea how relieving it is to finally be off meds! Overall I am thankful I am able to get help for my condition and overcome it… hopefully I won’t be needing the meds anymore!

My small business. From zero to almost 2,000 followers on instagram, very thankful for those who have supported our small business @thebeautywanderer! I vividly remember us conceptualising our brand, from colour palette to packaging, marketing, and advertisements. It definitely wasn’t a paved road but thankful to my business partners for being resilient. We now have our  own website, and we are targeting into fulfilling everybody’s order in 1-2 business days. If you are based in the Cayman Islands, show us some love by following our Facebook and/or  Instagram.

My CFA journey. Unfortunately all those months of studying still I wasn’t able to make it to Level 1 but I have no doubt I can get the charter through hard work and perseverance! I will be retaking my Level 1 next year in May so I will be very busy again in next couple of months! I have a lot of lessons learned from my first attempt, and I’m excited to crush it on my 2nd one!

My career. I love working at EFG Bank. There I said it! I love my boss too, Lainey, she is a huge inspiration to me! She is the woman I aspire to become. She is a good mentor and support system. In the few months of working with her, I can tell I have already grown so much. Also by being a mentor to the new temps made me even appreciate and understand my work better. The company has also sponsored my classes at the Chamber of Commerce, so yes guys, EFG is the place to be!

My life in general. I am just truly blessed. I am very contented with my life, my family is healthy and I have a partner who loves me so much. I have a roof under my head, I can eat whatever I want anytime I want, and I can sleep peacefully at night knowing I have not wronged anyone. These are some underrated blessings that most people fail to appreciate. But for me, I have nothing more to ask for. ๐Ÿ™‚

Ocho Rios Day 2: Mystic Mountain

We woke up to a stunning view of Ocho Rios beachโ€”clear skies, calm water, the kind of morning that makes you just pause and stare for a minute. We had breakfast at Almond Tree Restaurant, which sits right by the water. Naturally, we had to order ackee and saltfish with dumpling (because when in Jamaica, right?). The food was as good as the view. Quick Tips if Youโ€™re Planning to Visit Mystic Mountain: Originally, I wanted to pack the day with activities, but then I had a moment. Iโ€™m on vacation. Iโ€™m on an island. Why rush? As someone used to time-sensitive work, itโ€™s surprisingly hard to not plan everything by the hour. So instead of rushing, I took a nap at 11 a.m. (lol…

    Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park

I’ve always wanted to visit this tourist attraction ever since I came to the island but never really got the chance to do so because I live on the other side. I’m not a green thumb or a plant/flower enthusiast but I love going to botanic parks because of a lot of prospective subject to practice my macro photography. It is also a nice place to unwind, have a quick stroll, and appreciate nature in its most natural form. Last week, after so many self persuasions I finally decided to get up and get ready on a Saturday morning to go to North Side and enjoy Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park. It was very humid unfortunately so I ended up sweating all over throughout the…

    Rub-A-Dub 90’s Cooler Fete

I’m not sure if cooler fetes are a thing in Asia but here in the Caribbean it is almost like every outdoor party / event there is. Basically it’s a party where you can bring your own drinks and cooler. I’ve been to cooler fete twice before and it was fun, especially now that I learned how to drink (sush, it’s only our secret). Almost everybody I know still thinks I’m a good girl, but ever since I hopped on that flight to this side of the world, I feel like I’ve been liberated (to be free without regrets, that is). I have no idea at all of the music they played since my exposure is only on the mainstream ones. Dancehall or soca was…

    Arguing with Zombies

Hi friends! How are you? I haven’t been able to update this blog as much as I wanted to, but it is not by choice! I have been swamped the past couple of weeks…๐Ÿ˜“ Indeed 2023 started with a bang! At work, we have a major issue that my team had to help resolve. When I say major, it is reportable to the ombudsman major! It has been very stressful and challenging trying to fix something that we did not create in the first place, much less totally avoidable! It is disappointing as well that the moment the risk was identified, the most plausible solution was ignored. Ironically, nobody want this escalated, yet they escalate the most little things on a daily basis. So politically motivated…

  • Life Update: Week 3

    Life Update: Week 3

This week has been pretty mundane, nothing much about me. How about you? The things that kept me busy all week are errands for my workplace and mostly games. The island has been responding very positively on the restrictions set up by the government to prevent the spread of the virus (e.g. curfew, essential business operations, last name protocol, etc). They have been doing an feedback session every two weeks, and when circumstances are getting better, restrictions are being gradually lifted. Majority of the population are obedient with the policies in place that’s why we are now only on suppression level 3, coming from maximum suppression! Great job Cayman! Anyway, in another news, I downloaded the The Sims 2: Super Collection a couple of days…
