Crazy week, changes, small wins

This week has zipped by so fast that when I look back, I can’t even remember doing anything worth mentioning—seriously, what even happened? 😂 There’s been so much going on around me lately. I keep telling myself not to let it get to me, but I think my body might be a better judge of that. I don’t feel stressed out, but somehow it’s showing up physically anyway.

Work has been a bit of a madhouse recently. With two of my colleagues off on vacation, it’s just been me and another coworker holding down the fort. Those two weeks were intense, but we made it through. And just when I thought things might ease up, my best friend at work decided to quit. She’s putting her mental health first, and I’m so proud of her for it. But honestly, I’m also really sad. It’s tough seeing her go through such a hard time, and knowing I won’t see her smiling face in the office every day is a hard pill to swallow. It feels like just yesterday we were meeting for the first time. Time really does fly, doesn’t it?

To add to the whirlwind, my other best friend got let go from her job this week. I felt it so deeply that I reached out to her immediately, just to make sure she was okay and not beating herself up over it. Mental health is such a tricky subject—people don’t talk about it enough, but it’s so real. I’ve had my own struggles too, and having supportive people around makes all the difference. They were there for me when I needed them, so I try my best to be there for them too.

Last Friday, I hit my breaking point. It wasn’t even the workload that got to me—it was all the office politics. I ended up calling in sick because I could feel a breakdown coming on. My body’s been throwing up red flags with migraines and messed-up cycles, so I finally listened and took a day to just breathe.

After that, the weekend was a breath of fresh air. My stepdaughters came over, and we decided to have a little family outing. But geez, there’s not much to do here in Cayman! We tried to catch a movie, but everything was either R-rated or PG-13. The one movie that was good for all of us—Despicable Me 2—started before we even got there. We thought about doing the VR Matrix thing, but when we saw it was CI $50 per person for just one hour, we were like, nope, not happening! 😂 Spending CI $200 for an hour of fun just seemed a bit over the top.

So, we ended up hanging out at the park instead, and you know what? It was perfect. We didn’t need to spend a lot of money to have a good time. Sometimes the best moments happen when you’re just chilling together, talking, and laughing. Sure, it’s nice to splurge every once in a while, but there’s something really special about those simple, unplanned moments.

    Rub-A-Dub 90’s Cooler Fete

I’m not sure if cooler fetes are a thing in Asia but here in the Caribbean it is almost like every outdoor party / event there is. Basically it’s a party where you can bring your own drinks and cooler. I’ve been to cooler fete twice before and it was fun, especially now that I learned how to drink (sush, it’s only our secret). Almost everybody I know still thinks I’m a good girl, but ever since I hopped on that flight to this side of the world, I feel like I’ve been liberated (to be free without regrets, that is). I have no idea at all of the music they played since my exposure is only on the mainstream ones. Dancehall or soca was…

    We got married!

I can’t believe it! I am now officially part of the married women club! Nothing much has changed, to be honest, given that my husband and I have been living like a married couple for a while now. But still, it’s nice to know that we’re now officially bound together for life.  We decided to get married in the Cayman Islands to avoid the tedious process of applying for a marriage license in the Philippines. We’ve been trying to sort out all the paperwork since January this year, but the back and forth of legal requirements took a lot of effort, time, and money. So, we decided to bypass all the red tape, get married locally, and do a destination wedding ceremony in the Philippines…

    Halloween in Cayman Islands 2020

Hey guys, you might have already read my post the other day about The Hallotober Tag. I mentioned there that I love Halloween because I like dressing up, going to parties, and having fun on spooky community events. Last year, I went on a Halloween party bus (with missions and games) and since then I’ve always looked forward to this years event.  My costume was ready since the beginning of the year. Yes, that’s how excited I was! I even signed up on three events: Fright Fest: The Strand Block Party, Nightmare on Walker’s Road, and Dead On Arrival: All Inclusive Halloween Event. Finally, the wait is over! This year, I dressed up as… *drum roll please*… Sailor Moon! The Fright Fest is an annual event and has…

Toronto Day 5: Black Friday and NBA Game

My co-worker Paula and I had planned to meet on Saturday, but we decided to change the schedule to Friday morning. We had no specific plans for the morning except for shopping for Black Friday. We headed to Vaughan Mills outlet mall early in the morning to avoid the long lines. However, I could only buy four items from Kate Spade because the crowds were insane and the lines were too long. At times, it seemed like it wasn’t worth the wait and that I should have just shopped online instead. I can understand buying in bulk for retail stores, but if you’re like us and only want to buy one or two items, it’s not worth the wait (unless you want something limited edition!)….

  • A look back

Have you ever had one of those moments where you would just suddenly stare in to space and all those past memories starts flashing back? Well I’ve had many of those moments the past few days, all triggered by simply glancing into my old canon camera, pill case by the night stand, dusty books, and many more. I know I had to go through so much to get where I am now, but really and truly, what matters the most is my personal growth for the past year. My mental health. I have been on SSRIs for about 8 months and I am happy to say that I’m now down to my last week! You have no idea how relieving it is to finally be…

  • Life update (finally!)

    Life update (finally!)

Hi friends! It’s been a while. So many things has happened since I last checked in. First and foremost, congratulations to me – I passed CSC Vol. 1 Exam! I started studying for Vol. 2 immediately after though. I know, boo! It feels like its never going to end bubu!! but I’m giving myself until next year before my wedding to complete my certifications. To be quite honest,  there has been a lot of instances where I question myself…is this really the career I want? It is too late to switch? Don’t get me wrong, the moolah is good…  but it is very exhausting. Sometimes I straight up feel like I’m wasting my life with this. I don’t feel any sense of fulfilment. It’s not…

  1. What a rollercoaster of a week omg! It sounds like you’ve been juggling so much and I’m really sorry to hear about your friends. It’s so tough when things pile up like that. But it’s awesome that you took a breather and enjoyed some quality time with your family, even if the movie plans didn’t work out. Sometimes the best days are the ones that are simple and spontaneous :’) <3
