Things that matter

As I was driving back home today, I found myself humming the tune of Oh My Angel. It is the official soundtrack of the Angel’s Last Mission: Love. The melody brought back all the emotions I felt while watching the series. It was such a peaceful drive back home, and I couldn’t help but appreciate the little things that make life worth living.

It dawned on me that sometimes, all it takes is a moment to slow down, enjoy the view, and sing a nice song. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and forget to be present in the moment. That’s why today, I’d like to share with you the simple and mundane things that make me happy.

Staying in with my fiancé

Home is not just a place, but rather a feeling of warmth and comfort when you are around the people you cherish most. I embarked on a journey alone in Cayman, but little did I know that fate had other plans for me. It was then that I met my fiancé that changed my life forever. In this little island, I am loved, secured, safe, and content. Anywhere with him is home. He is my solace, my comfort, and my joy.

Spending time together is my love language, and we make sure to set aside time amidst our busy schedules. Most times we like to just be couch potatoes at home, watching TV series or playing Mobile Legends. He never used to like Korean dramas, until he watched Kingdom and Black Knight. Since then, we binged watched several K-dramas together such as Unlock My Boss, Celebrity, and Squid Game among others. The most recent one we watched was The Glory. We finished the entire series in one sitting! It was so good that my back hurt after; we only stood up from the couch when we needed to pee or when our food delivery arrived. I had so much fun, thanks to my soon-to-be husband!

Organizing my life

I have always disliked doing household chores, be it washing dishes, laundry, sweeping, or mopping. But the feeling of coming home to a tidy house and freshly pressed bedsheets is *chef’s kiss* unmatched. So, overtime, I learned to put in the effort and do these things, so I can unwind and relax everytime I come home.

As the new year comes, I want to declutter my closet and donate clothes that no longer sparked joy in me. Last Sunday, I purchased a large sterilite drawer to place inside my closet and organized everything in one place. I spent the entire morning sorting out clothes to donate or dispose of. Although it was a painstaking task, I am proud of myself for the outcome!

It’s a liberating feeling to keep only those things that I’ll actually use and reach for. I used to be a hoarder; holding onto things that I knew were of no use to me. But now, I remind myself that all material possessions are replaceable, if not disposable. Letting go of the excess baggage is refreshing and makes me my life is a little lighter.

Spending time with the kids

I received a $100 gift card from a generous senior co-worker. Rather than spending it on myself, I decided to share the gift with my family. I invited my fiancè, my step-daughter and her friend, our neighbor, to watch Wonka. The girls were quite a handful, with their love for dressing up and talking about boys! I had to scold them a few times to keep their attention on the movie. Nevertheless, it was a great experience. We spent the rest of the evening having some snacks at Starbucks and strolling around Camana Bay. A simple yet eventful day; a gift of life.
