Cheers to 2022!

Happy new year everybody! This is my first post of 2022! How exciting is that? Did you know that I was in the blogosphere since I was in high school… like around 2006ish… 15 years ago! Although ofcourse I kept changing my handle and kept evolving in content that’s why I’m always like a ๋ˆ„๊ตฌ to this world lol. A lot of the lifestyle bloggers I knew back then has stopped writing… and moved on with their lives. I wish I could still stay in that era that inspired me a lot to write. Quite frankly majority of the blogs I come across these days are all for making $$$ off content, building a brand, improving SEO and all that jazz. I genuinely hope I come across that space of the blogosphere again where bloggers just write about their lives, and experiences — more organic and relatable content. I have found some along the way, and I hope they won’t change! If you are one, please can you let me know your handle? I will add you to my reading list! This 2022, I aim to be more raw in my posts, so even though we are not physically around each other you still know how I’m doing and what’s going on in my life.

New Years came by so quick for me. First there was the Christmas long weekend, a couple of workdays, and then the New Years long weekend. It was so dragging to work in between Christmas and New Year! My coworkers and I were like… ugh… can we go home already? lol.

On Friday 31st December, we checked in again at Marriot Grand Cayman, for an overnight staycation. Did I mention that we were there last Christmas? This holiday season has been expensive to be quite honest! But it’s ok, after working so hard in 2021, I do think we need a well deserved break ๐Ÿ™‚ It was not originally planned, we just decided on it on Christmas day that we need to be here on New Years too. Last year we went to the beach to watch the fireworks, but nope it didn’t work for me. People just light their firecrackers here and there, what if something goes wrong and it drops in my eye?! Have you seen a dog flee and hide when they hear firecrackers? YUP THAT WAS ME. So nope, not happening this year!

We were supposed to watch the kids friendly fireworks at Camana Bay at 8pm but didn’t make it in time. So instead, we had dinner at Eats, a nearby restaurant along the strip.  The food was good ๐Ÿ™‚

When I called the hotel a couple of days before, they said that they will be hosting a Lantern Festival this year in lieu of the fireworks. So I really thought we will be flying out small lanterns into the sky (not eco friendly, I know I know), but turns out they placed it on the ground for aesthetic purposes only. How anti-climactic! Eitherway, there was a countdown pool party so we just went on and enjoyed the music, and fireworks from the next door hotel lol.

All in all I love the holiday season in 2021. It was a time to reflect on how blessed we are for good health, happy friends / family, a feast and nice vacation, plus extra moolah for gifts exchanges ๐Ÿ™‚ Weehee so excited for what 2022 has to offer!

    Red Sky at Night

Hey everyone, how have you been? For me, I’ve been busy as usual with my revisions, work, and life in general. I have been under a lot of pressure lately so I decided to unwind this weekend by going to Red Sky at Night event. When I was still in the Philippines, I loved going to events like this especially those that involved arts and culture. Red Sky at Night showcases work of local artisans and also celebrates culture of residents who where originally from different parts of the world. There were live performances, music, food, arts and crafts, games and activities for children (and adults also!). Here are some of the snippets I took from the event.

Discovering Los Angeles: How We Spent Our Layover Exploring Iconic Spots

As I mentioned in my previous post, we had a few days’ layover in LA on our way back to Cayman from the Philippines. I ensured we made the best of our short trip, so I booked a full-day tour from A Day in LA Tours. The trip was exhausting since the flight was 13 hours long, and immediately afterward, we went on a full-day tour. But to be honest, it was doable! We were able to visit Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier, Beverly Hills, Farmer’s Market, the Hollywood sign (from the Griffith Observatory), and the Hollywood Walk of Fame! The tour was so comprehensive that we didn’t feel like we missed out on any popular attractions. Santa Monica Pier At the heart of Santa…

    Coming back home

The first stop in our four-country, three-week vacation was the Philippines. We wanted to spend time with family and do some shopping before heading to our next destination. With some recent life changes, I know I might not be able to visit home as often, so I wanted to make the most of this trip. It was raining when we landed. A typhoon had just hit, so the weather was pretty gloomy and wet. That same day, the news was full of stories about a huge rally on the infamous flood control project. It was on the radio, TV, and social media. The whole country was talking about it. Even with all that going on, I noticed how much the Philippines has changed. There were…

    7 things I learned at 26

I am now officially 26 years old. Yesterday was my birthday. But what does that even mean? The earth revolved around the sun 26 times since I was born? I guess as I grow older every year I also get less sentimental and more realistic. This year, celebrations don’t really matter much. I prefer spending the day in peace rather than in big crowd of people with a lot of small talks. I am bad at small talks. I am awkward and timid and don’t know what to say. This year and last year has been the most challenging and fruitful at the same time for me. I embarked on a new journey, alone, tried to do things out of my comfort zone even though…

Pros and Cons of Living in Cayman Islands

Hey everyone! Today’s topic is about my experiences here in the Cayman Islands. I’ve been a residing here since 2018 and throughout my stay I’ve summarised the top things that I think are the upsides and downsides of living here. Without further ado, let’s start! Pros: 1. Less pollution.ย  I was born and raised in Manila, and that already speaks of how much environmental issues I can endure. Here in Cayman, I do not notice any type of pollution, may it be air, water, land, or even noise. Since the island thrives on tourism, the people and the government are strict with cleanliness so you won’t see people littering around. And if you do, they get cleaned up so fast! Air is also not a…

    Final destination: Halloween party bus

I’ve never been on a party bus before EVER – so imagine my excitement when I found out that Star FM is hosting a halloween bus party! There are 4 buses, 4 mystery stops (with games & missions), and 1 exclusive after party! Starting point is at the courtyard across the radio station in George Town and where the bus is going? Nobody knows! 1st stop: Hell, West BayMission: Take a group photo with the devil I was hoping for the bus to go East for a change but oh well this year they decided to rome around West Bay – my district. First task is to take a group photo with the devil (kinda lame but yeah lol). Nobody gave af about the mission,…
