Yesterday my boyfriend and I decided to watch this year’s Batabano parade. It was actually a spur of the moment decision. Since we have gotten much older, we don’t really enjoy being out in the sun while walking and dancing anymore. I would say, the first time I watched Batabano, I was so mesmerised by the vibrant costumes and the overall representation of the Caribbean culture. However, like most things, my ‘utility’ with island-wide events have been ‘marginally diminishing’ quite quickly than I expected. In my opinion, Batabano Carnival has lost its spark post-pandemic. As you all know, halloween is one of my favourite events in the year mainly because I love seeing people dressed up not just in spooky costumes but creative and cute ones as well! Did you know that turtle meat is one of the national delicacies in Cayman? Where I’m from that would be bizarre to hear but interestingly enough it is not in this side of the world. The Cayman Turtle Centre is a conservation facility for turtles and also tourist spot here in West Bay. I’ve only been there once when I was 13 and never dared to go back until a couple of days ago. I got the urge to go visit due to a number of calls I receive from their Aviary department regarding problems with refrigeration. As mentioned in my previous blog post, I recently got a job at my dream company, a Swiss bank. It is located at one of Grand Cayman’s hot spots for tourists, Camana Bay. I remember my first visit there as a tourist, it almost felt like I’m back in Bonifacio Global City. The location is very aesthetic and it houses almost every essential establishment you could think of. There is a bookstore, numerous restaurants and cafe’s, clinics, cinema for leisure, mini gardens for picnic, and ofcourse the Fosters (the grocery store) is just a few steps away.  Definitely, having your workplace there is such a privilege.
