Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park

I’ve always wanted to visit this tourist attraction ever since I came to the island but never really got the chance to do so because I live on the other side. I’m not a green thumb or a plant/flower enthusiast but I love going to botanic parks because of a lot of prospective subject to practice my macro photography. It is also a nice place to unwind, have a quick stroll, and appreciate nature in its most natural form.

Last week, after so many self persuasions I finally decided to get up and get ready on a Saturday morning to go to North Side and enjoy Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park. It was very humid unfortunately so I ended up sweating all over throughout the walk. It was uncomfortable considering the amount of mosquitoes biting me as well, but nevertheless I enjoyed the view! Here are some of the photos I took.

Flowers always make people better, happier and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.

Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park showcases beautiful gardens, lake, and nature displays. It is also a natural habitat for the Cayman Blue Iguana and a breeding ground for a variety of rare aquatic birds and animals native to the Caribbean. Click here to view the map.

    New Beginnings

This week has been productive for me. I’m currently in the transition phase of changing jobs and so at one point I am not so busy with my current job, but on another I need to set some ground work for my next job. I’ve been joining some networking events of finance professionals on island and fortunately met a lot of people in the industry. I’m pretty sure I’m going to see more often since I love attending conferences and fire side talks! The first event that I went to is hosted by the CFA society. They invited a speaker from the United States to come over and share outlook of the markets in 2023. It was a good event, although very technical at some…

    Rub-A-Dub 90’s Cooler Fete

I’m not sure if cooler fetes are a thing in Asia but here in the Caribbean it is almost like every outdoor party / event there is. Basically it’s a party where you can bring your own drinks and cooler. I’ve been to cooler fete twice before and it was fun, especially now that I learned how to drink (sush, it’s only our secret). Almost everybody I know still thinks I’m a good girl, but ever since I hopped on that flight to this side of the world, I feel like I’ve been liberated (to be free without regrets, that is). I have no idea at all of the music they played since my exposure is only on the mainstream ones. Dancehall or soca was…

    Coping

Checking in today. This blog always lingers in the back of my mind, and even though I keep telling myself I’ll write something, I often donโ€™t. Is it that I’m getting older, or is it just that my energy drains faster these days? I promised I’d keep this space alive so I can one day look back and see how life wasโ€”even if itโ€™s the little things. Iโ€™ve said it before, but it still feels true: so much has been changing around me. Am I getting older faster than I thought? Lately, Iโ€™ve been struggling to manage my emotions and behavior. I havenโ€™t been great at recognizing what stresses me out, or how to stop taking everything so personally. And letโ€™s not even talk about…

  • The Hallotober Tag

    The Hallotober Tag

I know it’s late to do the Hallotober tag since it’s November in like two days, but I’d like to go and participate in it anyway! Thanks to Izzy for tagging me, and Jordanne for this idea! Halloween has always been my favorite part of the year. I know some people would say Halloween isn’t something to be celebrated because of its origins, but common guys, it’s 2020! Halloween is fun because you can dress up as literally anyone and go to spooky parties! It’s that one time of the year where everybody suddenly becomes a cosplayer; and everybody suddenly has a supernatural experience to share. I love watching horror movies with my friends and be frightened with them, I don’t know, it makes me…

Can we still blog about our mundane lives?

I was at work having lunch earlier today, I was browsing through my bloglist, and I came across this article entitled Is there still a place for personal blog posts? The moment I saw the title I was like, how can you read my mind?! I was thinking the exact same thing. When I started blogging years ago, the blogs I follow are purely personal. Whenever I visit their page I feel like I was reading someone else’s diary. It was so therapeutic indulging in their thoughts. I felt like I had a genuine connection with them even though I was just a silent reader and don’t really comment. Fast forward to today, majority of them stopped writing because I guess they have matured, and…

Why do I feel like I’ve already lived through my 30s?

Sometimes it surprises me how I’m still in my twenties when I feel like I’ve already aged by so much the past few years. I don’t know if it is the hectic work/study schedule, or the sudden lifestyle change from buy whatever you want to responsibilities before happiness. I’ve never felt so adult (and so exhausted!) in my life. You probably hear me complain about this all the time lol.    My birthday is coming up and I don’t even have plans or anything. I originally wanted to go shop my heart out for cosmetics and skincare, but then again I still have a handful of unopened products I hoarded when I went to the Philippines last year. Even though I already have everything I ever asked…
