Passing my exams and trip to Toronto

I am thrilled to announce that I have successfully completed my Canadian Securities Course and Conduct and Practices Handbook! It was an incredible journey. As part of my job, I have to process trades, so taking these courses was mandatory. It is a major milestone for my career, and I have gained so much knowledge. I am grateful for the support from my workplace in pursuing further education. It took me a total of six months to finish both courses. Although some people manage to complete everything in less time, I wanted to ensure I truly understood the concepts instead of just memorizing for the exams. And let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it!

If you are planning to take the exams, here is my advice: invest in a SeeWhyLearning package. It has a comprehensive study guide and question bank that has everything you need. Just follow the suggested schedule, and you will be well-prepared. They even have great deals like the “protection pass,” which allows you access to the content until you pass! It gives you the best value for your money. It was a game-changer for me.

Interestingly, I had already booked my trip to Toronto without knowing the results of my exams. I figured it could go two ways: either I would not pass and I would need a getaway, or I would pass and it would be a reason to celebrate. Luckily, it turned out to be the latter. My flight was scheduled just three days after the exams. What perfect timing for a vacation, free from any worries!

Originally, we had planned to stay in Brampton because my fiance’s friend lives there. We thought we could simply take the bus to downtown Toronto. However, since I had never been there before, I was not sure about the traffic situation. Thankfully, I sought advice from a coworker who is a Torontonian, and she insisted that we stay in downtown Toronto as first-timers. I trusted her recommendation, and boy, am I glad I did! It made our whole trip so much better. In my next post, I will share more about our exciting 7-day adventure in Toronto, along with some helpful tips and our itinerary. Stay tuned!

    Walt Disney World

I went to Orlando Christmas last last year to do some shopping and went to Disney World while I’m there. My trip was only for three days and there was nothing much to do in such a short span of time. My goal really was just to spend some time away from the island and buy reasonably priced clothing among other things. I remember arriving on the 23rd of December and leaving on the 26th. I have come to realize that shopping in the USA at this time of the year, apart from Black Friday, is not a good idea — mainly because everywhere is packed with people and almost all stores are already empty! So in the end, I had barely bought anything lol…

Planning a Wedding: My Journey and Tips for Future Brides

As I’ve mentioned in my previous posts, I recently got married. The journey to make the event happen took a year of planning, with many adjustments along the way. Today, I want to share my experience with you, hoping it will help if you are a future bride. Every couple’s situation is unique. In my case, I did all the planning from the Cayman Islands while the wedding took place in the Philippines. Fortunately, I have a supportive mother who handled the groundwork and a fantastic wedding planner with all the right contacts. It was a team effort that made everything possible. Before diving into the details, it’s important to note that having a supportive family and a reliable wedding planner plays a crucial role…

    A Slow Sunday in Mandeville

Today was one of those slow-paced Sundays where we didnโ€™t really have a planโ€”we just drove around Mandeville with no particular destination in mind. Most of the shops were closed (as expected in the countryside on a Sunday), but that didnโ€™t stop us from exploring and soaking up the scenery. One of the most interesting places we passed by was what my husband calls the โ€œRed Lake.โ€ He told me that when he was a little boy, people believed the lake turned red because nearby factories used to dump chemical waste into it. ๐Ÿ˜ณ These days, itโ€™s no longer a lakeโ€”just a wide expanse of reddish dirt. According to one of the locals we spoke with, my husbandโ€™s story checks out. They said the dumping…

Toronto Day 1: Arrival, Jollibee, Kimโ€™s Convenience, and CN Tower

Please read until the end, as I will summarize all the tips I have for you if you plan to travel to Toronto for the first time! We arrived in Toronto at midnight, and it was freezing even though it wasn’t winter yet. We flew with United Airlines, and the flight was good. I was surprised that the airport was more relaxed at that hour. I expected shops to be open and people coming and going, but it had some downtime. Because of the time of year, it was less busy than other airports I’ve been to in the past couple of years. If you’re a first-time visitor to Toronto, choose a hotel downtown like we did. Similar to most big cities, everything is accessible…

    Motherhood

Since I got pregnant and gave birth, I pretty much abandoned this blog. What a shame, honestly. This used to be my little diary, my safe space on the internet. But I guess Iโ€™m in a new era now, and any tiny pocket of free time I get, I just choose sleep. Or at least lying down and staring at the ceiling in silence. Having a baby is no joke. I have a whole new level of respect for all the moms out there, especially the single moms. This is hard. And thatโ€™s coming from someone who has so much support: a stable job with maternity benefits, a loving husband, and a supermom who will take over baby duties the moment I say โ€œMama, Iโ€™m…

    Happy birthday, my love!

November 25 is my husbandโ€™s birthday, and this year we decided to take the whole day off just to be together. Nothing fancy or over the top. Just us, spending time and catching up on the things that actually matter. Most of the day was already set aside for his checkups anyway. He was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and since Iโ€™m pregnant, we figured itโ€™s the best time for both of us to start eating healthier and paying closer attention to our health. He was in the ICU at the end of October because of DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis). We were not aware of his condition. One day I just noticed his sudden weight-loss. He was lethargic so weak, I rushed him to the…
